Message Templates

Message templates define what notifications are sent to the recipient of an inspection and when they are sent. They are filled with predefined subtemplates that are triggered at different times during the inspection lifecycle. For example the “New Request” subtemplate is sent when the first inspection notification is sent to the recipient, while the “Inspection Finished” subtemplate is sent when the recipient completes the inspection.

Message templates work for both the email and SMS features that God's Eye provides. The subject and body are included in an email notification while only the body is included in the SMS notifications.

Create a Message Template

Just like creating lists, creating a message template is as simple as entering a name. Once you create it, the subtemplates will automatically populate with default messages that will be sent to recipients. If these suit your use case, you do not need to change them.

Subtemplates

Subtemplates are templates stored under the main message template that are used for different uses. There are six different subtemplates that can be sent out:

  1. New Request: Sent when the inspection is created or when the inspection reaches its scheduled date. It's also sent when you renew an inspection after its expiration date.
  2. Reminder to Start: This is sent manually and is used to remind the recipient to begin the inspection.
  3. Reminder to finish: This is sent manually and is sendable if the recipient has opened and started the inspection, but haven't yet completed the inspection.
  4. Request More: This is automatically sent to the recipient when you add temporary list items via the “Request More” feature.
  5. Inspection Finished: This is automatically sent to the recipient once the inspection is complete.
  6. Text Auto-Reply: This is sent when the recipient responds to the messages sent by God's Eye.

Editing a Subtemplate

You can edit each one of these subtemplates within a message template by clicking on the different subtemplates and modifying their subject and body fields. Data is automatically saved once you unfocus the text field, eliminating the need for a “Save” button. It is recommended that when you edit a subtemplate's field, that you verify that it is exactly what you want sent to the recipient as it updates as soon as you leave the field.

Message Variables

These message templates also contain variables so you can personalize the message being sent to the recipient, such as: CustomerFirstName, AssignedTo, Expiration, and InspectionLink. Variables are wrapped in double curly brackets, and are predefined by God's Eye, meaning you can use any variable in a message that God's Eye has already defined for you.
